Reilly, Former CEO of Cloudera and ArcSight, and Roesch, Sourcefire Founder, Bring Decades of Security Industry Leadership to Netography Technical Advisory Board

San Francisco, CA – February 13, 2020Netography today announced the general availability of the company’s Security Platform. In addition, Netography announced the appointments of security industry luminaries Tom Reilly and Martin Roesch to the company’s technical advisory board.

Open for beta last summer, the Netography Security Platform has since been in early use by some of the world’s largest financial institutions.

“Traditional, pre-cloud services based network security companies require a minimal multi-million dollar investment plus additional hardware to scale, cannot protect dynamically, and are limited in the kinds of attacks they can detect and stop,” said Barrett Lyon, Co-founder and CEO of Netography. “In contrast, we deliver real-time protection/defense against millions of network-based threats across an organization’s entire infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud. Our early customers have significantly improved their shared visibility across network and security teams, and we are pleased to now be able to offer the platform to a broader set of customers.”

In addition, the company is pleased to announce that Tom Reilly and Martin Roesch have joined the company’s technical advisory board.

Tom Reilly has a distinguished 30-year career in the enterprise software market. Most recently he was CEO of Cloudera. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of enterprise security at HP. He served as CEO of enterprise security company ArcSight, which HP acquired in 2010, and led ArcSight through a successful initial public offering and subsequent sale to HP.

Industry legend Martin Roesch adds decades of network security thought leadership to Netography’s technical advisory board. Roesch, the creator of the open-source network intrusion prevention system (IPS) Snort, founded Sourcefire in 2001 and served as its CTO until the company was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2013.

“Martin and Tom have founded and run two of the most successful companies in the history of the security industry,” continued Lyon. “They have shaped the evolution of network security in the face of a constantly changing computing and threat landscape. Their insights and experience are incredibly valuable, not just in understanding what enterprises need today, but also in building a long-term, highly scalable business that anticipates customer needs as we grow. We are honored that they have chosen to join us on this journey.”

“Netography enables network and security professionals to investigate and remedy the modern threat environment at a speed and level of autonomy that has never before been possible,” said Roesch. “This team has taken their years of security experience and combined that with their keen insights about how the cloud can be used to deliver unprecedented cross-network visibility and security remediation. I believe Netography’s Security Platform is a quantum leap for the security industry, and could not be more excited to help them capitalize on this vision.”

“Having founded and run companies like Prolexic and Defense.net, Barrett and team have an impressive track record and deep understanding of the challenges facing networking and security teams,” said Reilly. “I am excited to help them capitalize on that vision, and reach the broadest set of organizations that I know can benefit from the cross-infrastructure visibility and control that Netography provides.”

Traditional, pre-cloud services based network security companies require a minimal multi-million dollar investment plus additional hardware to scale, cannot protect dynamically, and are limited in the kinds of attacks they can detect and stop. In contrast, Netography delivers real-time protection/defense against millions of network-based threats across an organization’s entire infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud. As a result, network and security teams can have shared visibility into their security posture and effectiveness of their security controls at any and every point in time.

Barrett Lyon, Co-founder and CEO and Dan Murphy Co-founder and CTO will be attending the upcoming RSA 2020 Conference offering private demonstrations of the Netography Security Platform.
